Once the Romans overthrew their conquerers, they established their own repubic. The highest positions in the , government were the two consuls, who usually came from aristocracies. Their powers included: making and rejecting laws, deciding when to go to war ,and acting as judges in court. Next there was the Roman Senate, who was basically the consuls advisors; the consuls usually did what they recommended. The plebian council was how common people could elect their own leaders, magistrates ,and hold court.

Here is an original creation of mine, a pictoword. The letter R represents the power that the head consuls had. The E represents the citizens right to vote for their leaders. The P stands for the 12 tables, which were the first laws passed from the Romans that were in writing. The U stands for how The wealthier families, especially ones from aristocracies dominated poorer plebians. The B stands for the wealth that the Roman treasury had. The L stands for citizenship, as you can see from the white toga. The I just decorated ,and the C was to show how magnificent the buildings were.
